Working in a Team

Here are a few key aspects about teams and about working in a team.

How do I know if I should take on an assignment alone or in a team?

How do I find someone to form a team with?

How is the reward divided to all team members?

What are the responsibilities of a Lead solver compared to other team members?

Can I change who the lead solver is for my team?

What happens when a team member can no longer deliver the work?

How do I know if I should take on an assignment alone or in a team?

To determine the maximum reward for an assignment, our team takes into account various factors such as the required skills, language of the assignment, complexity, timeline, need for niche expertise, and other relevant considerations. If the assignment requires a diverse set of skills or checks some of the other boxes, we set the reward to a higher value so the reward can be attractive for solo solvers and for teams.

We advise our solvers to consider the same aspects when deciding whether to work on an assignment alone or as part of a team. You can ask yourself the following questions to help you decide:

  • Do I possess all the necessary skills to achieve the desired outcome?
  • Do I have the level of experience / expertise required?
  • Am I fluent in the language of the assignment?
  • Do I have sufficient time to deliver the final results on schedule?
  • Can I meet the deadline? How confident am I that I can do so?
  • If physical presence is required, can I easily travel to the intended location?
  • Do I communicate effectively with clients and create a positive impression? If not, you may need assistance in this area.

By considering these factors, you can make an informed decision about whether to work alone or collaborate with others on an assignment.

How do I find someone to form a team with?

When it comes to finding team members to collaborate with on assignments, there are several options available to you. One option is to post a message on our Community space, where you can provide details about the assignment and what you are looking for in team members. This is a great way to connect with like-minded solvers who share your interests and expertise.

Another option is to click 'Ask a question' from the assignment page and ask our team to assist you with finding team mates. Our team is always ready to support you in any way they can, and they will work with you to identify the best candidates for your team.

If you prefer to work with people you already know, you can invite your friends to the platform and collaborate on assignments together. This is a great way to build stronger relationships with your friends while also earning rewards for completing assignments.

We understand that collaboration is an important part of the solving process, and we are committed to providing you with the support and resources you need to succeed.

How is the reward divided to all team members?

When you collaborate with others on an assignment, the rating you achieve upon completion sets the maximum reward that your team can earn. The total reward is then divided evenly among all team members, without any differentiation between individual contributions.

What are the responsibilities of a Lead Solver compared to other team members?

When you choose to work on an assignment in a team and invite other solvers to join you by clicking 'Start assignment' and submitting a team proposal, you will automatically become the lead solver for your team.

A Lead solver is a team lead when working in a team on assignments. They serve as the primary contact for solver(s), blackbear representatives and client during the duration of the posted Assignment. The Lead Solver is responsible for overseeing the progress of the project, ensuring that the Deliverables are completed according to the client's specifications, and that the Solver(s) are meeting the required deadlines.

There are certain key actions that only you can take as a Lead solver. For example, you will be the only one able to submit a draft deliverable, final deliverable or rate the client on behalf of the team. Your main responsibility during this process is to gain alignment with your team before you complete any of these actions.

We encourage you to decide as a team who will want to take on the responsibility before you join the assignment. Once decided, the named solver should be the one submitting the proposal for the assignment.

Can I change who the Lead Solver is for my team?

If you are dissatisfied with your team lead or want to change the lead representative, you cannot do so directly. However, you can reach out to the project consultant or our support team for assistance in making the necessary team adjustments. They can help you assign the Lead role to another solver from your team.

What happens when a team member can no longer deliver the work?

If a team member is unable to deliver the required work or wishes to withdraw from the process, contact the project consultant or our support team for assistance in making the necessary team adjustments. Together, you may decide to replace the team member, and our team can help you find another solver to join your team. Alternatively, you may choose to remove the team member from the assignment and continue delivering the work. Rest assured that our team is dedicated to finding the best solution for your team's needs.

Have in mind that when a solver withdraws from the assignment process, the solver significantly reduces their chances of being chosen for other assignments in the future.
