Earnings and payout information (FAQs)

How much do I earn?

After handing in your final deliverable, it will be evaluated by the company. As a Solver, you will be paid based on your output. The submitted solution will be rated based on a 5-star rating. If you receive all 5 stars as a rating you will receive 100% of the amount to be earned. If you receive 4 stars as a rating you will receive 80% of the amount to be earned and so on. The higher the score on your solution, the higher the amount to be earned. Learn more about how the rating system works.

How long does it take to be paid out?

At blackbear, we’re always working to make processes as smooth as possible, especially when it comes to your money.

In most cases, payment transfers between blackbear and Stripe occur immediately after a rating is completed. To learn about when rating is considered completed, read more here.

However, there are occasions when it may take up to 5 business days. If a transfer was initiated more than 5 working days ago and is still not complete, please contact us.

How do I get paid?

Before you participate in assignments you need to verify your account and select your payout method via Stripe, our payment provider. After you got your rating on an assignment, your reward will be paid out to your  bank account automatically. The processing of this payment by your bank can take up to 5 business days.

How does it work with my tax return?

Blackbear sends all the information regarding solver earnings to the Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst). The Dutch Tax Authority will share your blackbear earnings with the Tax Authority in your payout country. It is important to know is that you don't have an employer relationship with blackbear. When you live in The Netherlands the money you have earned through blackbear must be declared in your tax return under the heading 'income from other work' (inkomsten uit overig werk) in your annual tax return in May. When you live outside The Netherlands you need to include your blackbear earnings in your annual tax return in your payout country.
